Over at the new stock photo agency Stocksy that I license my images at, we got word that a designer was looking for some patriotic, flag-waving, American content. Things like parades or other events that depict summertime fun in the USA. So I quickly scheduled one of my stock photo sessions to get some content up that would satisfy the need. Today, I’m featuring my “At the Independence Day Parade” series.
This series is all about kids planted on the curb waiting for, and watching, the holiday parade. While this patriotic event is meant for July 4th, it could also work for Memorial Day or Labor Day. The crowd of children waves their flags, cheers and holds up signs for the participants. As well as watching, the kids even stage their own neighborhood parade in some of the photos, walking and waving to fans and the camera.
The multi-ethnic group of models are Caucasian and Hispanic, and range in age from 5 through 13. The clothing is all red, white and blue, and, along with the numerous American flags being held, there are lots of hats, necklaces and headbands being worn to bring in even more patriotic colors. As usual, there are lots of options in compositions, some have plenty of copyspace, some focus on the flag and some try to single out an individual kid as the focus of the image. This series would be great for editorial work about traditional events or summertime fun, or as a background for a new advertising campaign:
