Thanksgiving Side Dishes Stock Series

Last week I spent a day cooking up a storm in my kitchen to create a new royalty free stock image series on the subject of Thanksgiving side dishes.  I don’t mind having Thanksgiving a few weeks early in my house, because sometimes I can’t wait for such a great food-centric holiday!

This new series can be found exclusively at Stocksy United.  I did roast up a turkey that day as well, but unlike last year’s Thanksgiving all-about-the-bird session, these images are all about the sides.  You’ve got basic mashed potatoes with butter and gravy.  Both mashed sweet potatoes and a traditional (in my family at least) sweet potato pie with marshmallows.  In my house, my mother always (on purpose) burns the marshmallows so she has to pick them off and eat them before a second more “successful” try.  I actually did burn the center topping and had to pick it off and try again with this recipe.  We also have homemade cranberry sauce.  Two kinds of green beans as well.  Simple steamed with butter, and the well known casserole with cream of mushroom soup and fried onions.  Oh, and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic vinegar.

Here are the recipes, if anyone likes:

For the sprouts, here’s a general recipe.  Take a pound and slice them in half.   Microwave 3 pieces of bacon for a minute.  Chop the bacon and add to the sprouts.  Add enough olive oil and balsamic vinegar so that after mixing, everything is lightly coated.  Put on a baking sheet and roast at 425 broil until they start to brown.  Flip over and remove when they start to crisp at the edges.  Add salt and pepper.  Yum!

Enjoy this new series, and if you’re new to Stocksy, use SJLOCKE20 for 20% off your first purchase.  Thanks (giving) again!
