As we round into the first days and weeks of 2015, the late Winter and Early Spring holidays aren’t too far off.  We all have Valentine’s Day on the mind, but don’t forget the king of party holidays, Mardi Gras – this year on February 17th!

This new royalty free image series has a traditional King Cake as the center of festivities.  This dessert is a sweet braided dough, with cinnamon, nuts and raisins in the center of the braids.  It’s topped with a white icing glaze and colored sugars.  I had to get this cake custom made at a local bakery for these images, and wow, did it smell amazing.  Although I’m still on my carb-free diet, I had to take a few bites, although I probably got enough sugar just inhaling.  It was delicious!  Inside, there’s a tiny plastic baby, and whoever finds it wins luck and prosperity.  A few images show this toy inside a piece of cake.

There’s also plenty of cheap beads, feathery masks, shiny coins and, of course, the drink of choice, the hurricane.  This fruity tropical drink is a New Orleans favorite, and in loaded with rum and fruit juice.  In these images, I’ve garnished with an orange slice, cherry and tropical umbrella.

Some of this new stock series has a more filtered, Instagram-ish look, while others are more naturally processed.  You can find these stock photos in my Photoshelter portfolio or on my other stock distribution sites.  Thanks and “laissez bon temps roulez!”.
