Stocksy Innovates With New Upgrade Option

This is great news.  Stocksy United has unveiled an innovation that makes life easier for buyers who license RF images, but end up with changing needs.  It’s the new “Upgrade Image” feature, and as far as I know, it’s exclusive to Stocksy.

New Stocksy Artist Pages

Royalty free stock image agency Stocksy United rolled out a change to the artist profile/landing pages on the site, and boy, I think buyers are really going to dig this.  It really adds a new way to organically move around the site, brainstorming and discovering content you didn’t know you were looking for.

Portfolio Update: Valentine Crafts

Last week, I showcased a new image series for Valentine’s Day that is hosted at Stocksy United.  Well, continuing on my holiday kick from the last few months, I’ve got another brand new series up for Valentine’s Day, this one featuring a group of cute little girls making crafts.

Portfolio Update: Love is in the Air

I like January.  I mean it isn’t my favorite month of the year, but I like the holiday wind down.  Cleaning up, putting away, fresh start and all that.  It also means it’s about a month away from my birthday (2/15), but more importantly for you advertising designers, Valentine’s Day!  A time of year to bring out the teddy bears, heart shaped boxes of candy, and diamond necklaces.  Today, I’ve got a new series online at Stocksy United to help […]

Portfolio Update: Happy Holidays Backgrounds

Time really flies this time of year.  I’ve been really busy working on new holiday stock imagery that I’ve neglected my blog posting here a bit.  I’ll remedy that slightly today, with an update on the new series that I’ve put up on Stocksy – “Holiday Backgrounds” for Christmas, Hanukkah and just generic “Happy Holidays”.

Steering the Ship

It’s an exciting time for contributing photographers at Stocksy United, the new co-op stock image agency.  Lots of positive news coming from the press, like the announcement that Stocksy projects to be profitable in Mid-November.  An amazing feat, considering it just opened in March!  Also all the articles about why the agency was founded and it’s paradigm.  Reasons like disappointment in how other businesses were operating, and a challenge to bring a positive vibe back to stock photography.  However, behind […]

Stocksy Adds Multi-Seat License

When you license imagery for design use, do you do an in-depth read of the license terms and restrictions?  Did you realize most Royalty Free agreements restrict the buyer to keeping the content available at one location only?  This is known as “single seat” licensing.   The content can be moved from one designer to another, but it is not supposed to be on a network, or otherwise available to multiple people at the same time.  The “Multi-Seat Extended License” solves […]

Portfolio Update: Boo To You!

Disney fans may recognize that bit in the title of today’s post as a reference to the name of the Halloween themed parade they put on at the Magic Kingdom during “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party“.    One of my favorite events they do in Orlando.  That leads up to today’s portfolio update: “Halloween!” and a look at some of the images I have in my portfolio at Stocksy United, the artist owned co-op photo agency.

Portfolio Update: Sushi Restaurant

Most of my new royalty free stock image work has been going to my portfolio at Stocksy United.  One of the things Stocksy has been asking for is authentic people and locations.  They also asked for sushi images.  So, I recently put together a shoot combining all these requests, and have this new series available – “At the Sushi Restaurant”.

Extended Licenses at Stocksy

Good Monday morning to you!  Let’s talk licensing today.  As I’ve discussed before, when you go to a stock photo agency and make a purchase, what you are really doing is buying a set of rights to use the image you’re interested in.  The image data is part of the package, sure, but the rights you purchase are what let you use the content without getting into trouble with the copyright holder.  So make sure you are purchasing the rights […]
