This Week’s New Stock

Did two fun sessions for my iStockphoto.com portfolio last week.  Fortunately for me, unfortunately for you ( 😉 ), I’m going skiing for a few days, so it will be a week or two before a majority get up into my portfolio. The first was a studio session with a great group of late teen female models.  They were all new to me, but they all had great smiles and attitudes.  We covered some technology, homework and scrapbooking images.  There […]

Vimeo.com Rights Grab?

In a recent thread on iStockphoto.com, a video contributor described how he had been denied iStockphoto’s video exclusivity contract because he currently has content (one video) on Vimeo.com, a video hosting site, sort of like youtube.  People use Vimeo a lot for “how to’s” and “behind the scene demos” as well as experimental and final footage clips. The rejection for exclusivity from iStockphoto read: Exclusivity denied as member has files posted at http://www.vimeo.com/user###### which grants that company a royalty free […]

Currently Seeking Models

Normally I post on Craigslist or search through ModelMayhem when I’m looking for new models for my stock photography work, but those have failed me as of late in these two areas of population I’m looking for.  Perhaps a post here might help. So, if you live in the St. Charles area, to the west of St. Louis, I’m currently looking for: Active Mature – Senior couples – ages anywhere from 40-70 – should have a great smile and have […]

Portfolio Update

Today’s portfolio update shows off my recent shoots with one of my favorite models, and also with a (mostly) happy baby girl. The first set revolved around “spring cleaning” and a revisit to an early favorite, “customer service”.  I tried to add a little color with some various background papers. With the baby girl, we did a variety of images with her playing with different objects and toys.

Use TinEye to Brainstorm

Have you heard of tineye.com ?  It is to images, what Google is to words.  Basically, it takes any image you feed it, either from your computer, or an online URL, and compares it to over a billion images it has found from scouring the internet.  It has some proprietary technology, that creates a “fingerprint” from the image it finds, stores it, and then uses that to compare to what you are looking for. Now, on its front page, it […]

Portfolio Update

In case you missed it, we elected a new President, and he took office last month.  Well, guess who stopped by the studio the other day? Ok, it’s not really him, but a whole anonymous concept series on the President of the USA.  Various objects and poses.  Should be fun to use.  Also, a slightly late Valentine’s Day series, including the new model from above… Also, don’t forget, all your “Pot of Gold” needs, for St. Patrick’s Day.  New images, […]

User Generated Conference Expo

Just to get out and network a bit, I’m heading off to the UGCX conference next month.  The courses on the Photography track sound interesting, and hosted by a few peeps I know.  Hopefully, the track will stimulate a few brain cells that aren’t currently active, and get me thinking in new directions.  And it should be fun!  Let me know if you’re going as well.

Why Contributors’ Expensive Equipment is Good For You

So, you may have noticed as part of last week’s iStockphoto.com big announcements, there was included a per credit price increase of $1 for a package of 10 credits, and a smaller amount as amount purchased increases.  There was also the introduction of the new Value collection, with lower credits per image prices (to be introduced early 2009 with 200,000 images) and the Premiere Collection with offering the bestest of the bestest at a higher cost.  Additionally, the Standard collection […]

Happy Thanksgiving

To all my friends and readers in the United States, have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.  Enjoy a day off from the craziness 🙂 .

Portfolio Update

Today’s portfolio update is to introduce my new massage series, including couple’s massage images.  This series was done with two real massage therapists to lend it authenticity.  I’ll tell you, the models never had to work so hard! 🙂  Another note, I tried to keep it light and bright, with accents of turquoise and brown, the hot colors this season. You can see more of the series by clicking here for a search in my portfolio. Thanks and have a […]
