Today, I’m featuring a new stock photo series, exclusively available on Stocksy United: “Shopping At The Mall”.
This new series takes place in a local two story shopping mall. I composed these images very carefully, so you get the idea of the environment the models are in, yet there is nothing particularly specific to the location. The images should come across as light and airy, with a focus on the general action of shopping, concentrating on things like shopping bags and cell phones. Again, this is more about being in the atmosphere of a shopping mall then purchasing items, which I’ve covered before and is generally well covered in stock photos.
However, in researching this topic, seeing what has been covered before, I found some opportunity here. There are some shopping mall series out there, but they don’t feel very authentic. There are some that have shoppers composited over a background image. There are some extensive series that feature just one or two persons in the same environment, which stands out as being posed. And so on. So, I’ve really tried to address that in this series. We had access to all the mall areas, and shot in various walkways, on the escalators and in the food court.
I brought together a group of four teen girls and two adult women. The teenage shoppers are shown together, then they split apart, having fun, laughing, using cell phones and carrying their purchases. The adults shop separately, then join together. The groups end in the food court for lunch, talking, showing phone photos, etc.
